Shhhhht ...

We've had some potential for child/toddler tourettes again this week ....

Hollaback Girl by Gwen Stafani was on Radio 1 on Friday. I was in the car with both children at the time. Bear in mind the chorus for a moment please;

Ooh, this my sh*t, this my sh*t
Ooh, this my sh*t, this my sh*t
Ooh, this my sh*t, this my sh*t
Ooh, this my sh*t, this my sh*t

Instead of saying sh*t, they changed it to shhhhht, so it sounded exactly like ... well, sh*t.

Delighted I was not.

The 4 year old said nothing at the time, but I am well aware she will be digesting it for another more suitable time, like our once yearly trip to church, when we are sat in the Dr’s waiting room or travelling in a full but silent lift.

Oh yah Baby - she is saving that for the perfect time to cause the maximum amount of embarrassment, something 4 year olds are very well versed in.

Ah, shit happens.
James' favourite at present is a delightful ditty that has a chorus (obviously ripped off from Pete Burns) that goes,
You spin me right round, when you go down, when you go down, when you go down, down down.....

He thinks it's great. I'm not saying a word.
Love that you have Tourette's helpline google ads on this...I've got debt collection!

My almost 6yr old went through a stage when he was about 2.5 where he said "Dammit" quite often. The best time was at a dinner party we were having. After saying "dammit" he followed it up with "Jesus Christ!"

It was a proud moment.

yep - I remember my daughter singing "I'm horny, horny, horny horny" at a very young age. I find all the primary school girls singing "I kissed a girl" lyrics sort of wrong and in my house at the moment Pink has a lot to answer for.

Hohum !

You can bet money on that one.

Maximum embarrassment.

When my now five year old was about three, he loved the song Californication by the Red Hot Chili Peppers. I thought my rather prudish mom was going to have a heart attack when she heard him singing it!

I left you something at my place!

Ouch! That could really sting.

Ah bless their innocent little socks. My youngest is fond of the Lily Allen song (Family Affairs did a great post on this). And he thought the lyrics 'I'm lying in the wet patch in the middle of the night' was an admission that she was still wetting the bed. NOT explaining that one.

Yes it will definitely sit in the back of 4 year old's mind, and just when the timing could not be worse, you know what will happen! Do blog about it!

For once I am glad that in Malaysia, the appropriate lyrics are beep out and the rest of the song continues untouched.

My 3 year old also favours 'dammit' - usually at the quietest moments of a dinner party, but my absolute favourite has to be "Jesus Crust!"

Just wait till they learn the words to the Lily Allen song "It's Not Fair" then - my daughter is threatening to sing it in the school assembly!! Lx

Have a little award for you over at my place. Don't think you have it yet but apologies if you've already been tagged with it x

Hmmm, yes XFM had a trailer for a music feature which included reference the title to the Prodigy song Smack My Bitch up. I was not impressed; my 4 year old, innocently, started to repeat the words, when I went into to outraged mother overdrive ending with a flourish "and I WILL be writing to the radio station blah blah blah" but sometime things are unacceptable
